Breakdown of Mustangs’ schedule

With practice for the 2018 high school football season a few weeks away, Varsity Sports Network’s Derek Toney takes a look at the regular season itinerary for select area teams.

C. Milton Wright Mustangs

2017 record: 7-4 (Class 3A North Region semifinalist)

2017 review: The Mustangs returned to postseason play after winning four games in 2016, and finished second in the UCBAC Chesapeake. Brent Moody, a second-team Chesapeake defensive back, highlights 20 returning letter winners for the Harford County school in 2018.

2018 opponents’ win/loss record (from 2017): 52-56 (.481)

Toughest 2018 opponent: Havre de Grace. The Warriors won the UCBAC Chesapeake title and reached the Class 1A state semifinals. The Harford County school will have back all-Chesapeake first-team quarterback Alex Gresock, and wide receiver/defensive backs Jordan White and Christian Penrow.

Most intriguing 2018 opponent: Edgewood. The Rams reached the Class 3A North Region final last season, ending an 11-year postseason drought. Edgewood returns two of the UCBAC Chesapeake’s best players in University of Maryland commit Deonte Banks, and quarterback Antwan Banks.
