Friendship Academy of Engineering & Technology (FAET) Grizzlies
2013 record: 7-3 (Class 1A North Region semifinalists)
2013 review: The Baltimore City school, in its first varsity campaign, qualified for the state playoffs and finished second in the city league’s Division III. The Grizzlies will have running back James Lightfoot among their returnees.
2014 opponents’ win/loss record (from 2013): 26-59 (.306)
Toughest 2014 opponent: Poly. The Engineers have their third coach in four seasons as Dwayne Green steps in for former Baltimore Raven Larry Webster. The Cold Spring Lane school is scheduled to have two letterwinners back for the coming season.
Most intriguing 2014 opponent: Carver Vo-Tech. The Bears went from 0-10 in 2012 to a first-place showing in the city league’s Division III. The west Baltimore school is scheduled to return 22 letter winners this coming season.
By a number: 6. Consecutive wins by FAET to end 2013 regular season.
Sep. 5 vs. Carver Vo-Tech (8-3)…Grizzlies lost 12-0 to Bears in varsity debut last year.
Sept. 12 at National Academy Foundation (1-8)…FAET gained first win with 18-0 decision.
Sept. 19 vs. Poly (6-4)…Grizzlies suffered worst regular loss, 34-0.
Sept. 26 vs. New Era Academy (1-8)…FAET won battle of first-year programs, 30-0.
Oct. 3 at Southwestern (1-9)…Grizzlies held off Sabers from city league’s Division I.
Oct. 10 vs. Ben Franklin/Masonville Academy (3-5)…FAET scored season-best 34 points in victory last fall.
Oct. 24 at Lake Clifton (2-7)…Grizzlies won 14-6 last season.
Oct. 31 vs. Maritime Academy (3-6)…FAET won third road game of season with 30-14 decision.
Nov. 7 at Bluford Drew Jemison (1-9)…Grizzlies posted third shutout of season, 14-0.
