Fallston’s girls soccer team opened it’s season with a 6-1 victory over Elkton on Wednesday.  The defending Class 3A state champions returned four starters from last year and are hoping to make it back to the state finals.

Sophomore Marissa Walker scored two goals for the Cougars (1-0).  Kaylie Yapps, Jayme Harmon, Brianna Worthington and Nikki Henrickson each netted a goal. 

Fallston held a slim lead over the Golden Elks1-0 at halftime but came out firing in the second half.  The Cougars also outshot Elkton, 24-1.

Abby Wilson had two assists while Heather Summers, Paulina Christ, Lara Myers and Harmon all had one assist.

Kerri Valadares scored Elkton’s goal on a penalty kick.  Keeper Megan Dennis stopped 11 shots for the Elks (0-1).
