Fallston High senior field hockey player Christina Conrad has given a verbal commitment to Drexel Univesity. Conrad said she made the decision in late July after the Philadelphia school offered a scholarship.
“They [Drexel] were the only school to offer,” Conrad said. “I visited the campus and really liked everything about it.”
Conrad was recently named to the USA Field Hockey’s 2010-2011 Futures Elite list, joining four other locals among the 200 selections. The list identifies what USA Field Hockey deems to be the best high school players in the nation, with the skill, talent and potential to successfully continue through the Junior High Performance Program.
“I was surprised I made it,” said Conrad. “It’s really important because of the training you’ll receive and having the opportunity to make the Junior National team.”
Conrad will be a key clog for Fallston this coming season. The Cougars are among the state’s dominant programs, winning the last three Class 3A state championships.
“I’ve been working hard over the summer to improve my game,” said Conrad, who plays center/forward. “I’m trying to be more of a leader this season.”
