In a hard fought and physical girls soccer game, strong defensive play by Park, led by senior Lauren Sibel and freshman Nece Whye, combined with solid play by junior goalie Arianna Strome, proved decisive in a 1-0 victory by the Bruins over host Baltimore Lutheran, Wednesday in Towson.
Park was able to keep Lutheran outside of the 18, which was the major factor in the shutout.
Senior captains Aiden Piper and Sophie DeFries combined with senior Gabi Schwartz to control the middle of the field and the tempo of the game. Sophomore Rebecca Schwartz provided spark up front with her tremendous work rate.
The game was won in the second half with a through ball from Piper to fellow captain Autumn Cohen who beat her defender on the dribble and fired home the shot.
Lutheran’s Lizz Bott played well in defeat, stopping six shots Bruin shots.
