Seven matches is a lot to go through in a two-day period, and feels even longer then you have three of your starting 14 wrestlers out of the lineup.
That’s what the Harford Tech Cobras felt like heading into the Keaser Classic this past weekend, ending the tournament 3-4 with notable wins.
The Cobras had three wrestlers finish the weekend undefeated, seeing Tyler Granese, Jamie Rappazzo and Dillon Brush all go perfect at 112, 160 and 171, respectively, and teammate Joey Malanga (145) dropped just one match to end 7-1.
Without starters Adam Teal (103), Brandon Hoch (125) and Mike Vega (215), the Cobras were able to beat Lansdowne, 52-30, and edge-out Easton, 36-34, and Eleanor Roosevelt, 39-34, but dropped to Wilde Lake, Leonardtown, River Hill and Hammond.
River Hill and Hammond went on to tie for the tournament’s number one position, and the loss to Leonardtown marked Harford Tech’s first ever loss to the school.
The Cobras will look to bounce back from the weeknd with a meet at UCBAC foe C. Milton Wright before taking to Southern Garrett to face the defending 1A-2A state champs and Winters Mill, Saturday.
