City College High boys’ basketball team split two games at the Primetime Shootout in New Jersey last week. The Knights dropped a 68-49 decision to Neshiamy (PA) in the opening round of the Flight 3 bracket Dec. 28.
Junior point guard Ryan Arcidiacono, a consensus Top 50 prospect in the Class of 2012 who’s given a verbal commitment to Villanova University, scored a game-high 23 points. Dwight Williams added 13 for the Philadelphia area school.
University of Maryland-bound guard Nick Faust scored 18 points, and Mike Cheatham added 15 for City, which fell for the third straight time, following losses to then-No. 2 St. Frances Academy and then-No. 3 Patterson. The Baltimore City school ended its skid the following day against New Jersey’s West Windsor-Plainsboro South in the consolation.
The Knights rolled to a 66-37 decision as Faust scored a game-high 25 points, and Cheatham finished with 14. Jake Donohue led West Windsor Plainsboro South with 15 points, and Bryan Rivers added 13.
City (4-3 overall) returns to Baltimore City league action Friday afternoon at No. 14 Douglass.
