Outlook: Eastern Tech is looking for its fourth straight Class 2A North Regional title. The Mavericks have been in the state title game the last three seasons, winning for the first time a year ago. City is back in the playoffs for the first time in three years and is in search of the program’s first state crown.
The visiting Knights downed Douglass, 46-20 last week. Running back Da’Quan Smith carried the ball 16 times for 111 yards and three touchdowns. Senior fullback Tre Smith ran for 88 yards and a touchdown, while junior quarterback Steffin Wilkins ran for two scores and threw for another in the win.
The Mavericks turned quarterback Brad Hager loose in last week’s 41-0 win over Dundalk. The senior tossed four touchdown passes, three to tight end Chris Pomoroy. Hager went 7-of-9 for 147 yards. Running back Josh Cannella and quarterback Kyle Bosserman each ran for a score.
Eastern Tech has had an easy time handling Baltimore City teams in the regional playoffs. The Mavericks defeated Lake Clifton last season and went through both Edmondson and Poly the prior two seasons on their way to the state finals.
