Katie Booker scored two goals and added an assist to power Chesapeake over host Glen Burnie, 8-0 on Monday afternoon.
Jen Tenaglia, Ashley Reid, Kelsey O’Connor, Emily Howley, Peyton Strain and Sydney La Marsh all had a goal for the Cougars, who improve to 6-5-1 overall and 6-4-0 in Anne Arundel County.
Reid and Erin Tenneson both had two assists while Howley and Autumn Reid each had one as Chesapeake placed 35 shots on goal and had 11 penalty corners.
Goalkeeper Tara Sinchak had another outstanding game in goal for the Gophers (0-11, 0-11) with 25 saves. Glen Burnie held Chesapeake to 2-0 at the half but the Cougars pulled away in the second half.
“It was a different Glen Burnie team out there,” said Gophers coach Tracee Torrillo. “They were working together, supporting and passing. Jordyn Childress took the ball down and almost had a shot on goal in the first 10 seconds of the game and I don’t think Chesapeake realized what they were up against.”
She added: “Alyssa Rosales had a game. She was strong committed and she help shut down Ashley Reid who is Chesapeake’s dominate player. Glen Burnie is improving in every game, now if we can just win one. We play Southern for our final regular season game on Wednesday and I think my seniors want it more than anything to put a victory in the column.”
