Winfield Taylor scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Chapelgate Christian defeated host St. John’s CP, 69-41, on Tuesday night.
The Yellow Jackets (4-1) led by 17 at the half and kept their feet on the peddle in the second half.
The Vikings (0-1) were led by Devante Moses, who scored a team-high 10 points. DeShawn Weaver added nine for the Frederick school.
Forward Matt Phillips powered Chapelgate with 20 points and point guard Nate Frierson scored 11 points and had eight assists in the win.
Chapelgate, the defending MIAA C Conference champions, will travel to Annapolis Area Christian on Friday to face McDonogh at 5:30 p.m. in the Eagles Classic Tournament.
