Yellow Jackets overcome a slow start to defeat Frederick Christian in the final


The Chaepelgate Christian basketball team scored just three points in the first quarter of the championship game of the 30th annual Lion Classic, at Broadfording Christian Academy, Tuesday night in Hagerstown, but rallied in the second half to defeat Frederick Christian, 57-46, to win the title.

Down 23-16 at the half, the Yellow Jackets (3-1) pulled even after three quarters and outscored their opponent 20-7 in the final quarter to win going away.

Julian Copeland Jax Felder, who was named Tournament MVP, shared team-high scoring honors with 15 points each. Juilian Ludwig finished with 9 points and Timi Akisanya scored 7.

Akinsanay joined Felder and Jaylen Marbley on the All-Tournament team.
