Central Bucks West (PA) advanced to the finals of the Bristow Holiday Tournament at Gilman, on Wednesday night, with a thrilling come from behind 41-40 win over McDonogh.
Derek Dyer made a key layup with four seconds to go in the game to give the Bucks the lead, and a last second shot by the Eagles caromed out. Dyer led the Bucks with 12 points
Kayel Locke led McDonogh with 16 points, 12 of which came in the first half when the Eagles built a 22-19 lead. The Bucks will play Woodlawn game in the championship game on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. The Warriors rallied past host Gilman in Wednesday’s other semifinal, 61-59.
Also on Wednesday in this event, Coppin Academy defeated Indian Creek, 47-40, in a consolation game. Coppin led by as much as 15 in the second half, but ICA made a late charge to get close. Tashoun Barnes scored 16 points to lead Indian Creek.
In addition to Thursday’s title game, McDonogh and Gilman will meet at 6:15 p.m. in a battle for third place in the tournament.
