The Centennial girls soccer team created repeated scoring opportunities in its Howard County match with host Oakland Mills, on Friday in Columbia, but only managed a single goal late in the first half. Fortunately for the Eagles, it is all the needed to secure a 1-0 victory.
Centennial outshot the Scorpions 29-10. The goal was set up by a through ball by Caroline Baker, which Taylor Bourg finished to finally put Centennial on the scoreboard on their 13th shot.
The second half saw 16 more shots for Centennial. They also had five corner opportunities to just one for Oakland Mills, which hung tough despite the constant pressure.
