The No. 1 team in the Baltimore-area opened up its 2010-2011 dual meet season with a large win, Wednesday, as Archbishop Spalding took down Calvert Hall, 69-6.
Giving the Cardinals their only points of the match with a forfeit at 160, the Cavaliers went perfect in the remaining 13 bouts, working eight falls, two tech falls, two majors and a Vince Perez (125) decision in sudden death for the win.
Pinning for the Cavs were Wolfie Bradley (103), Mike Still (112), Logan Breitenbach (130), Brady Gaynor (140), Charlie Lynch (152), Zach Abey (189), Ryan Baublitz (215) and Malik Johnson (285).
Running up the scores in their individual matches, Spalding’s Matt Pente (119), and Will Switzer (145) worked tech falls over their opponents, with Switzer’s win marking his 100th career victory.
Both Decauje Smith (189) and Cole Graves (135) earned major decisions.
Spalding’s next stop is the Battle at the Beach this weekend, while Calvert Hall rests until the new year.
