Chesapeake-Anne Arundel County football, an afterthought for decades, has experienced a renaissance the last couple of seasons. The Cougars have garnered a spot in the latest VSN's Football Top 20 poll.

The Pasadena school is 4-0 after reaching the Class 3A East Region playoffs last year. The Cougars, who reached the state playoffs for the first time in 2015, are tied for first in Anne Arundel with reigning league champ Broadneck and neighborhood rival Northeast.

Dundalk is back in the VSN Top 20, thanks to a 4-0 start, its best since reaching the Class 3A state final in 2015. The Owls play at No. 13 Franklin Friday evening.

St. Frances Academy, which had its game at Florida's Lee cancelled because of travel issues related to Hurricane Florence, remains No. 1, followed by Archbishop Spalding, Broadneck, Calvert Hall College and Milford Mill Academy. Mount St. Joseph, Dunbar, McDonogh School, Glenelg and Howard again makes up the rest of the Top 10.
