Breakdown of Bruins' schedule
With practice for the 2018 high school football season a few weeks away, Varsity Sports Network’s Derek Toney takes a look at the regular season itinerary for select area teams.
2017 record: 11-1 (Class 4A East Region finalist)
2017 review: The Bruins won the Anne Arundel County title last fall and reached the 4A East Region final. The Cape St. Claire school should be the early line favorite in 2018 with Boston College commit Ethon Williams back, along with all-Anne Arundel County running back Jason Caramo, linemen Luke Del Rosario, Caelan Shepard and Peyton Sickle and linebacker Matt McAllister.
2018 opponents’ win/loss record (from 2017): 43-59 (.422)
Toughest 2018 opponent: Meade. The Mustangs gave Broadneck its toughest match last regular season (lost 35-6 to Bruins in East semifinals) and finished second in the Anne Arundel standings. Meade has 28 letter winners scheduled back, led by wide receiver/defensive back Cameron Smith.
Most intriguing 2018 opponent: Old Mill. The Patriots missed the state playoffs for the first time since 1998 last season. The Millersville school, led by mighty-mite senior running back Ryheam Tull, will be highly motivated to start another streak.
By a number: 13. Consecutive regular season victories by Broadneck.
