Obezags and Hornets will square off for MIAA C Conference crown on Sunday
Key School swung an eight-point deficit at the end of one quarter into a 31-26 halftime lead and then broke things open in the fourth quarter as the third-seeded Obezags went on the road and knocked off second-seeded Concordia Prep, 67-50, in one MIAA C Conference basketball semifinal, Thursday in Towson.
Key (8-8) will now advance to Sunday’s MIAA C Conference Championship Game at Harford Community College’s APG Federal Credit Union Arena (1:00 p.m.), opposite top-seeded Cristo Rey, which edged fourth-seeded Beth Tfiloh, in Thursday other C Conference semi, 42-39.
For Key, the victory was claimed on the back of Elijah Jenkins, who poured in a game-high 29 points including 14 in the fourth quarter, turning a six-point game into a 17-point romp.
Marshall Tanz also had a big night for the Obezags as he scored 16 points.
Trikeri Otis paced a very balanced effort by Concordia (10-16) with 11 points.
Cristo Rey (16-9) earned its way into the league final for the first time with its victory over the Warriors (13-13).
Terry Curry scored 12 points to lead the Hornets, who had to come from behind in the final quarter to prevail.
Kameron Glazer led all scorers for Beth Tfiloh with 15 points and Harris Gartenhaus was just behind with 14 points.
