Engineers top Gilman in finale (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS HERE!!)

With back-to-back Class 3A state titles, Poly High boys' basketball team is thinking three-peat this coming winter. Inside the "warm" confines of Middleton Athletic Center at St. Paul's School, the Engineers began the process, winning the St. Paul's Summer League final Thursday evening with a 51-42 victory over Gilman School.
Rising junior forward Justin Lewis had a game-high 18 points for Poly. Rising senior point guard Jalne Rucker finished with 14 points for Gilman.
The defending Baltimore City Division I champ Engineers never trailed after a 12-0 run midway in the opening half, capping a 9-2 showing in the SPSL, the largest summer boys league in the region. Poly, the No. 4 seed, defeated top-seeded Loyola Blakefield, 47-40, in the semifinals.
Gilman, the 10th seed, fended off MIAA A Conference rival and No. 11 seeded Calvert Hall College, 56-51,in the other semifinal. Rucker's basket with 1 minutes, 21 seconds left in regulation, broke a 48-48 tie.
