On Saturday, Calvert Hall (5-2-1, 3-2-1 MIAA) traveled to Bel Air to make up Thursday’s rainout against John Carroll, and came away with a 3-0 MIAA A Conference soccer victory.

After shutting McDonogh out for the last 60 minutes of a 2-1 loss last week, and then 100 minutes of scoreless soccer vs. Gilman on Tuesday, the Cardinal defense was looking to keep another clean sheet against the Patriots.

The first half was scoreless, as both teams had excellent chances turned away by goalkeepers Jake Brown (9 saves, John Carroll) and John Dillon (4 saves, Calvert Hall).  The Cards finally broke through early in the second half on two goals from senior forward John Tune, with assists from senior midfielders Yianni Sarioglou and Dave Driscoll.

In the final minutes, senior defender Matt Vesely closed out the scoring with a left-footed blast from 25 yards and an assist from junior Matt Coury.

The fCardinals have now pushed their shutout streak to 240 minutes.
