In a hard hitting rugby season opener for both schools, Calvert Hall claimed a convincing 43-12 victory over John Carroll, on Tuesday.

John Carroll jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in this chilly afternoon battle, scoring in the first five minutes of the match. But from that point on it was all Calvert Hall, as the Cardinals outscored the Patriots 43-5 the rest of the way.

Men of the Match, Donnie Carroll and Nick DiPietro, provided both offense and defense for the Cards.  Carroll, a Fly Half, scored two tries with converting 4-of-7 kicks while DiPietro lead a defense that held JC to five points in the second half.

Also scoring tries for Calvert Hall were Rob Odle, Colin Pribula, Stefan Janik, Alex Evans and Alex DeRito.  The victory was the third straight win in a home opener for the Cardinals.
