No. 3 Calvert Hall faced a tough road test Friday night, as it traveled to Dunbar (DC), the No. 13 team in Washington, but the Cardinals grounded a touchdown in each of the first three quarters and played outstanding defense to improve to 3-0, with a 21-6 victory over the Crimson Tide.
Junior CJ Williams scored on a one yard burst in the first quarter to put Calvert Hall on top, 7-0. In the second quarter, Thomas Stuart connected with Trevor Williams for a 10 yard TD pass, and Stephen Kelly capped the Calvert Hall scoring with a four yard touchdown run in the third period.
Dunbar (2-1) spoiled the Calvert Hall shutout bid in the game’s final minute, but Garret Eppel, Stefan Janik and Adrian Amos all had big contests on the defensive side of the ball.
The Cardinals return to action next Saturday, when they host Havre de Grace.
