Calvert Hall’s football team, which won the 2010 MIAA A Conference Championship and finished the season ranked No. 1 in the VSN Top 20 as well in the Maryland state rankings, visited the Maryland General Assembly at the State House in Annapolis on Tuesday.
The visit was sponsored by Senator James N. Mathias, Jr., Legislative District 38 – Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties, a 1969 graduate of Calvert Hall.
The team was represented by Br. Thomas Zoppo, FSC, President of Calvert Hall; Assistant Principal Charles Stembler ’83, athletic director Lou Eckerl, head coach Donald Davis, as well as 20 seniors on the team. They group was escorted to reserved seats in the Senate Gallery, viewed the Legislative Session, which included recognition of their season, and toured the historic rooms and chambers of the State House.
