Jessica Canami went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI and Kayleigh Allender drove in a run as No. 9 C. Milton Wright High defeated North East, 3-2, in an UCBAC Chesapeake division softball game Wednesday. The Mustangs (2-2, 2-1 Chesapeake) withstood a North East threat in the final at-bat for the victory.
With runners at second and third with no outs for North East, Mustangs shortstop Lindsay Resnik nabbed a line drive off the bat of Paige Buckworth. The next batter, Hanna Guy, hit a hard shot to third to Jessica Lucas, who looked back the runners before throwing to first to retire Guy. The runner at third, Casie Preisch, shot towards home but Mustangs’ first baseman Alicia McMahon threw her out, ending the game.
Weather permitting Thursday, C.Milton Wright welcomes IAAM A power and No. 6 Seton Keough for a non-league match.
