Cowie’s overtime goal lifts the Mustangs in showdown with North Harford
Looking to clinch the UCBAC Chesapeake Division field hockey championship with a win, C. Milton Wright traveled to North Harford, Wednesday evening, and worked into double-overtime before coming away with a 3-2 victory and the title.
Erin Cowie, with an assist from Winslow Dipeso, scored the game winner.
Cowie also had an assist on CMW’s first goal of the evening, which came in the first 50 seconds of play, as she fed Claire Burrows.
Burrows also scored the Mustangs second goal with Dipeso getting the assist.
“This win meant something to the girls tonight,” said C. Milton Wright coach Kelsey Lovelace. “They were able to keep their unbeaten mark in the upper division and take home the crown. After a though two weeks of opponents I am super proud of my girls for digging deep and finding a way to pull out the win tonight.”
With two non-league games left in its regular season, C. Milton Wright is 8-2 overall and finished 6-0 in the Chesapeake Division. North Harford (5-7 overall) is 3-2 in league play.
