Mustangs edge Chesapeake-AA; Broadneck tops Westminster
In the Red Division of the Bogle Invitational at Glen Burnie High School, C. Milton Wright and Broadneck each came away with opening round wins, Thursday, setting up a showdown between the Mustangs and Bruins, on Friday, for the Red Division crown.
C. Milton Wright got the victory with a strong second half, coming back from a 33-31 deficit to prevail by four, 67-63.
Sophomore Jordan Stiemke powered CMW with 27 points, while senior Jordan Bullis scored 11 points. Junior Evan Gallant added nine points and four assists and senior Bryan Stiemke had nine points and four assists.
Chesapeake was led by Alonzo Wilkes, who scored 17 points. Senior Kareem Francis netted 14 points for the Cougars and junior Ethan Cann scored 10.
Broadneck advanced with a 57-43 win over Westminster in the second contest of the evening. Senior Logan Vican led the Bruins with 19 points and senior Andrew Rose added a dozen points in the victory.
The Red Division title game is slated to tip-off at 3:00 p.m. at Glen Burnie on Friday afternoon.
