Unranked Bryn Mawr opened its 2010 volleyball season, on Friday, with an impressive five set win over No. 10 Severna Park, on the road.

The Mawrtians were led by a strong performance from five juniors, as well as key contributions from a senior and a freshman in a 23-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-15, 15-10 win.

Senior Rachael Franks had big night with seven kills, four aces and 20-of-24 serving, while freshman Kendall Sinosky pitched in with two kills, two aces and two blocks.

From there it was left to the juniors.

Susannah Matthai had 16 kills and an ace, Jaime O’Donnell added two kills, two blocks and two aces, Kate Walker had three kills and three blocks, Bryn Dunbar set up 27 assists to go with two blocks and an ace, and Eliza Steiner was 19-for-23 from the service line with three aces.

For Severna Park, senior Carli Converse had nine kills and 13 digs, in addition to winning 14-of-15 serves with three aces, while junio Marlyn Sherbondy finished with 23 digs and three aces.

In addition, sophomore Kim Bell had 20 assists, Rachel Welsh had five kills and Megan Poskaitis had six kills, 13-of-15 service winners and two aces.
