Brunswick running back CJ Shankle missed this fall’s first seven games while recovering from a torn MCL, but he is obviously rounding back into form after rushing for 146 yards and three touchdowns, Friday night, as the host Railroaders eliminated New Town from the 1A state football playoffs with a 42-0 win.

Expecting to see the pass oriented offense which led Brunswick to a 9-1 regular season record, behind the outstanding play of quarterback Ian Fisher, New Town was battered by 27 does of Shankle, who weighs 230 pounds and knows how to run down hill.

Playing a spread offense, Brunswick created lots of space for Shankle and he delivered.  Fisher did not disappoint either, tossing for two touchdowns.

Regardless of what Brunswick’s offense was doing, New Town (6-5) found no success on offense.  The Titans managed only 83 yards of total offense.

Brunswick will now engage another Baltimore County 1A squad in next week’s regional championship, as it travels to CCBC-Catonsville to match-up with top-seeded Western Tech, which advanced with a 47-12 rout of Sparrows Point, on Friday.
