Falcons see their lead in Anne Arundel County narrow

Tyler Madairy scored a second half goal to pull host Broadneck even with No. 3 Severna Park and the Bruins held on to get a 1-1 double-overtime draw which tightened the Anne Arundel County boys soccer standings.

The Falcons (9-0-1) remain undefeated and still lead the league with a 6-0-1 County mark. Their lead in the standings, however, has narrowed to just one point as No. 7 Meade defeated Southern, 4-0, to move within just one point at 6-1-0, while South River (5-1-1), a 4-0 winner over Glen Burnie, also on Thursday, is within three points.

Griffin O’Neill scored in the first half to give Severna Park and early 1-0 advantage. Bryce Costello assisted on Madairy’s goal for Broadneck.

Indicating how close the match truly was, Severna Park outshot Broadneck 7-6 and the Bruins had a 4-3 edge in corners.

Breakneck (4-2-3 overall) improved to 3-2-2 in Anne Arundel County, where they sit in sixth place.
