Douglass High boys’ basketball team is still undefeated, and the Ducks can thank Dwayne Brewer. The senior guard earned most valuable player honors as the No. 14 Ducks won the Holiday Classic Shootout in Williamsport, PA last week.

Brewer (pictured left) totaled 55 points in two games, including a game-high 29 in a 64-60 overtime decision over host Williamsport Dec. 30. Douglass (7-0 overall)  led 31-21 at halftime, but Williamsport forced overtime as Jahad Thomas scored with five seconds remaining in regulation.

Williamsport led 58-54 early in overtime, but the Ducks fought back with a 10-2 closing run. Davough Sims added eight points and 10 rebounds.

Brewer scored half of Douglass’ points with 26 points in the Ducks’ 52-47 victory over Prep Charter (PA). The west Baltimore school return to action Friday afternoon against No. 3 City College at home.
