When the Bel Air Bobcats went down 3-0 against the John Carroll Patriots in the second inning, they knew it would be a long road back for a softball win.

But one run at a time, the Bobcats clawed back into the game, scoring runs in the third and fifth to come within one of the lead and before the magic really happened.

Bel Air’s Jen Schofield stood at the plate in the sixth inning and rifled a solo shot, touching all four bases to tie the Patriots, 3-3, heading into the seventh inning, where a Bekka Gillespie double brought home teammate Laura Porter just moments before the John Carroll throw for the 4-3 lead in the seventh.

Power was felt by the Patriots throughout the game, as Bobcats Hensley and Gillspie notched doubles, Lents ripped a triple and Schofield rang a homer in the game, while John Carroll answered with a double from Ryan and triple from Norris.

Bel Air will next face Aberdeen on March 28, while John Carroll sets for North East on Thursday.

Bel Air 4, John Carroll 3
