Fourteen boys’ teams and six girls’ squads make up the field for the 15th annual Basketball Academy Mixer in late January at Coppin State College.

Five-time defending Baltimore City champ and 2010 Class 3A state finalists Western highlights the girls’ field which features Poly, Milford Mill, Woodlawn, 2009 2A state champ City College and New Jersey’s Willingboro. Willingboro reached the Central Jersey Section 2 semifinals last winter.

City College, Dunbar and Milford Mill, state champions from last season, head up the boys’ contingent. The two-time defending Class 2A champ Knights, led by recent University of Maryland commit Nick Faust, plays Rocky Mount Prep from North Carolina before closing the annual event with a showdown against defending Class 3A champ Milford Mill.

The Millers, featuring Colgate-bound guard Isaiah McCray, take Patterson and its standout guard Akil Carr, Jan. 21. Dunbar and Owings Mills meet on Jan. 21, in a rematch of last season’s Class 1A finals.

Defending city champ Edmondson, Parkville, Perry Hall, Archbishop Spalding, Havre de Grace and reigning UCBAC champ Aberdeen makes up the rest of the boys’ field.

The three-day event features academic and cultural enrichment workshops for the participating players.

Tickets are $10 per day with children under five years old admitted for free. Advance tickets can be purchased at the participating schools or by calling 410-396-8569.
