Saints claim a 10-4 win over visiting Mount St. Joe
Not only did the Mount St. Joseph lacrosse team have to deal with a talented St. Mary’s squad on the road, Wednesday night, the Gaels had the daunting task of playing back-to-back nights in the MIAA A Conference. Not surprisingly, it did not prove to be a good formula, as St. Mary’s raced out to an early lead and went on to a 10-4 victory.
Tyler Barnett paced the Saints with four goals and Will Hopkins scored twice and handed out a pair of assists. In addition, Erik Chick scored twice, while Nick Golini had a goal and an assist. St. Mary’s other goal was netted by Teddy Androus, who won 9-of-17 face-off attempts.
St. Mary’s established a lead with four goals in the opening period and finished off the Gaels with four more in the fourth quarter.
The Saints improved to 4-1 overall and in the conference, while St. Joe (3-6 overall) fell to 0-6 in league play.
