Bryn Mawr School junior soccer player Riley Barger has given a verbal commitment to the University of Maryland, Mawrtians coach Tina Steck confirmed Thursday evening.

One of the area’s elite players, Barger is a state and Region I Olympic Development Player. She’s helped the Baltimore Bays Club team to four consecutive Maryland State Cup championships.

Barger has been one of the reasons Bryn Mawr (14-1-1 overall), ranked 13th in the latest VSN Metro Top 20, has won 13 straight decisions to lead the IAAM B Conference.

A two-time conference all-star selection, Barger had 11 goals and 15 assists last fall for the Mawrtians, who won the B title in 2009.
