Boys’ Latin, St. Paul’s and St. John’s Catholic Prep also reach winner’s bracket semis; Updated bracket here

In MIAA B Conference playoff action, Friday in Ellicott City, host Glenelg Country, got a two-run walk-off single by Marcus Arterburn, in the bottom of the seventh inning, to top visiting and 6th-seeded St. Vincent Pallotti, 3-2, in the winner’s bracket of the B Conference Double-Elimination Tournament.

Through the first five innings, the only run scored came off the bat of Pallotti’s Jeremiah Jenkins, who parked a 3-1 fastball in the trees in right field for a solo home run to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. GCS was able to tie the score in the sixth on an infield ground ball by David Miller, after bunt base hits by Dylan Melton and Spencer Yu.

Pallotti regained the lead on an RBI single by Henry Heard, before Arterburn, who pitched a complete game, claimed the victory with his bat. Dylan Melton had two base hits and score two runs, including the winning run, for the Dragons.

Also on Friday, top-seed Boys’ Latin thumped 8th-seeded Mount Carmel, 10-0, 2nd-seeded St. Paul’s blanked 7th-seeded Severn, 5-0, and 4th-seeded St. John’s Catholic Prep topped 5th-seeded Indian Creek, 3-2.
