Defending MIAA A champ Gilman School is the highest ranked area school at No. 3. The Greyhounds are behind D.C. area powerhouses Good Counsel and DeMatha Catholic.
Gilman, which opens its season at Archbishop Spalding Friday evening plays Good Counsel, ranked No. 10 nationally by USA Today, Sept. 4 in the featured game of the inaugural I-95 Kickoff Classic at Unitas Stadium. Gilman plays DeMatha Sept. 18 at Morgan State.
Defending Class 4A champ Old Mill is No. 5 with River Hill at No. 7 and Arundel rounding out the Top 10 locals at No. 9. Old Mill plays at Arundel in the regular season opener Sept. 3.
Baltimore City power Dunbar is 12th, Broadneck is 16th and defending MIAA B champ Spalding is 19th. Off an impressive 2009 campaign, Calvert Hall College is 22nd, followed by Class 3A state semifinalist Hereford at No. 25.
Defending Class 2A state champ Eastern Tech received 13 votes and MIAA B finalist Boys’ Latin garnered three. Poly and Chesapeake-Baltimore County each received two votes and McDonogh School one.
