When: Friday, 4

Outlook: Boys’ Latin look to move to 2-0 in the MIAA B Conference. The Lakers opened last Friday with a 34-0 pounding of St. Mary’s in Annapolis.

Boys’ Latin defense did most of the work as Greg Pyke, all 6-6 and 305 pounds of him, returned one of two interceptions 99 yards for a touchdown. Mike Turner recorded an interception.

Jeff Chase returned a kickoff 98 yards for another score, and Brandon Barnes rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. The Lakers welcome a Curley squad that could be the darkhorse in the MIAA B.

The Friars pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 42-21 opening decision over C. Milton Wright in Bel Air last Friday as Luke Stidham threw for 140 yards and accounted for four touchdowns. Stidham, a transfer from defunct Cardinal Gibbons, has given an added dimension to the Friars’ wing-T offense.

Stidham tossed scoring passes to Anthony Williams (45 yards), Antond McDonald (21 yards) and Kenny Thomas (48 yards), and had a two-yard scoring run. Joe Evans and Demonya Womack (48-yard interception return) also scored for Curley.

Last season, Boys’ Latin posted a 34-15 win over Curley. The Lakers went 10-0 before losing to Archbishop Spalding in the conference title game.
