St. Frances unanimous No. 1 in state preseason football poll; five locals in Top 10

For the second straight season, St. Frances Academy, which is near the top of most national polls, has been selected as the unanimous choice to top the first Maryland High School Football Media State Poll of the 2019 season. With all 12 first-place votes, the Panthers amassed 300 points from the voters.

Four other local teams cracked the Top 10 with Mount St. Joseph at No. 3, Calvert Hall College at No. 5, Archbishop Spalding at No. 6, and Franklin at No. 9

Also of local interest in the poll are No. 17 McDonogh School, No. 19 Milford Mill Academy, No. 20 Dunbar, No. 22 Broadneck and No. 25 Mervo.

Several other local squads – Arundel, Loyola Blakefield and Dundalk – received votes but did not crack the Top 25.
