B.J. Andrews came through in the clutch for McDonogh School boys’ basketball Tuesday. The sophomore hit a three-pointer buzzer, lifting the Eagles to a 67-64 overtime decision over Archbishop Spalding in a MIAA A Conference contest.
Spalding forced overtime on a layup by John Kemp. The Cavaliers benefited from McDonogh (14-6 overall, 6-2 MIAA A) missing the front end of pair one-and-one free throw opportunities. The Eagles, thanks to Andrews, finished the job in overtime.
Kayel Locke produced another double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Andrews finished with 13 points and four assists. Allen Jackson added 11 points and seven rebounds and Robby Weingart had 10.
Senior forward Eric Fisher scored a game-high 21 points for Spalding, and Kemp and Greg Brown added 13. The Cavaliers (8-12, 0-6 MIAA A) travel to No. 2 John Carroll Friday evening in league play.
McDonogh hosts Loyola Blakefield Friday evening.
