Brianna Jones (pictured left) started 2011 the same way she ended the previous year with another double-double, posting 25 points and 15 rebounds as No. 5 Aberdeen defeated Elkton, 82-56, in an UCBAC Chesapeake Division girls’ basketball contest Tuesday evening.
Nia Alleyne added 23 points and five rebounds for the unbeaten Eagles (9-0 overall, 2-0 Chesapeake), who won the White Division crown at the inaugural Vernon Brown Invitational at Fallston last week. Jones, Ayana Stewart and Lakeia Hayden were named to the all-tournament team.
Desiree Foye led Elkton with 14 points and Bria Travis added 13. Elkton hosts co-division leader North Harford Thursday evening.
The Eagles will host defending Class 1A state champ and No. 3 Joppatowne (9-0, 3-0 Susquehanna) Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m.
