Patterson Mill takes down Colonel Richardson in the final
Host Patterson Mill won four of the first five matches in is 1A East Region Wrestling Dual Meet final, Wednesday, and the Huskies went on to defeat Colonel Richardson, 40-21, to earn a place in Saturday’s 1A state semifinals.
Kyle Pulket (113) opened the final for Patterson Mill with a major decision and Tony Athanasiou (120) followed with a pin as the Huskies jumped up 10-0. After a loss at 126, the Huskies grew their lead to 19-3 with a technical fall from Ethan Harvey (132) and a major decision from Brian Wheatley (138).
Alex Sweaney (152) added a win at 152, Trist La Fave had a fall at 182, before the Huskies closed their scoring with pins from Connor Morton (220) and Mason Sprinkel (285).
Patterson Mill will be the fourth seed in Saturday’s state semis at North Point High School and will face top-seeded Southern-Garrett at 12:00 p.m. The winner will face the winner of the match between third-seeded Lackey and second-seeded Sparrows Point for the 1A state crown at 4:00 p.m.
