Huskies claim their first ever win over Fallston
Patterson Mill High School opened in 2007 and in the 11 previous years of its existence, the Huskies boys’ lacrosse team had never defeated Harford County rival Fallston.
That changed on Wednesday, as the Huskies edged the visiting Cougars, 6-5, in Bel Air.
Connor Madsen and Kevin Dyke played exceptional games at the midfield and on both ends of the field, with Madsen netting three goals, Dyke producing a pair of assists.
The victory did not come easy, as Patterson Mill built a 4-0 halftime lead only to see its advantage rapidly fade in the second half. Huskie penalties put Fallston in the extra-man offense, frequently, and the Cougars climbed back, tying the score at 5-5.
Blake Tallon, however, proved to be hero for Patterson Mill, as he netted his second goal of the game, for the game winner, with under three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and Patterson Mill held on for the victory. Chance Urban also scored for the Huskies.
The Huskies also got great defensive efforts out of Evan Ehly, Jake Lowery, Chris Blackwell and goalie Justin Strawderman (5 saves).
Cory Reed and Colton Presley each scored twice to lead Fallston and Jared Yarworth scored once for the Cougars.
