Area dominate state football player rankings


St. Frances Academy’s Dashawn Womack is the consensus top senior football player in the Baltimore region heading into the 2022 season. The defensive linemen is committed to LSU.

Baltimore is again well represented on the state and national high school football recruiting sheets with the 2022 football season set to begin next month.

St. Frances Academy, the area’s No. 1 team the last five full seasons, has six players among Rivals.com’s Maryland Top 25, led by defensive linemen Dashawn Womack.

Womack, the state’s No. 2 recruit by 247Sports (No. 3 by Rivals), is rated 83th overall nationally by 247Sports. Braswell is verbally committed to LSU.

The Panthers also have defensive end Brian Simms (9th), defensive linemen Isaiah Neal (11th), running back Durrell Robinson (12th) and defensive backs Christian Garrett (17th) and K.P. Price (18th) in Rivals’ Maryland Top 25. 

Price, who recently transferred from reigning MIAA A Conference champ Calvert Hall College, is committed to Boston College along with Simms. 

Neal and Robinson are also in 247Sports’ Maryland Top 35 along with offensive linemen Naquil Bertand and wide receiver Ryan Manning (Maryland commit).

McDonogh School offensive linemen Antonio Tripp is ranked No. 8 by Rivals and 247Sports. Tripp recently committed to Miami.

Chesapeake-Anne Arundel defensive back Rushaun Tongue is the area’s top public recruit. The Wake Forest commit is rated 16th by Rivals and 247Sports.

Dunbar’s Devin Roche, last year’s VSN’s Offensive Player of the Year, is ranked 25th in Rivals’ state list. He holds offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, Morgan State and Towson.

DeMatha Catholic defensive lineman Jason Moore is the state’s top recruit. The Ohio State pledge is ranked 48th overall nationally by Rivals and 52nd by 247Sports.
