Today we announce some very exciting news: VarsitySportsNetwork.com has been acquired by the The Baltimore Banner and will be incorporated into the Banner’s new digital news operation: TheBaltimoreBanner.com.
Everything you know and have loved about Varsity Sports Network, and our coverage of local high school sports, will live on, but, starting on Tuesday, August 23nd, it will live at a new location.
This coverage, which will continue to be produced by VSN’s award winning team of writers, will only grow as part of The Baltimore Banner.
Starting next week we will be rolling out several feature stories, as well as our rankings, players to watch and a listing of top games to watch for the fall sports season, and much more. In addition we will continue to be your eyes and ears on the field with our game coverage which will get underway later next week.
If you are a current VSN subscriber, you are no longer being billed for your subscription. You will, however, receive free access to TheBaltimoreBanner.com for the next six months. Not only does this allow you to continue consuming our high school sports content, you will have access to all of the Baltimore Banner’s local content, including coverage of local news, sports, entertainment and more. If you like what you see, you can purchase a subscription at the end of your six months.
The Baltimore Banner is a non-profit news organization that was launched to focus entirely on local news that serves the community. They are scaling up rapidly and over the coming months will be expanding coverage into professional sports, food, restaurants, and additional counties in the greater Baltimore area. This is an exciting opportunity for VSN and our readers as The Banner builds the deepest and broadest local news capability in the State.
More information on the status of your subscription will be shared with you via email by The Baltimore Banner.
Varsity Sports Network has had an incredible 12 year journey. That journey will continue as part of The Baltimore Banner and we invite you to join us we continue to create our unique brand of high school sports coverage in the Baltimore metro area.
Sincerely,
Gary Adornato
