The Baltimore Catholic League Tournament, one of Baltimore’s greatest high school basketball traditions is set for its 50th anniversary event when tournament action commences with four first round game on Monday, March 22nd.
The seeds became official Wednesday night at the conclusion of the regular season with St. Frances Academy taking the top seed by completing and undefeated regular season with a 78-67 win over long-time rival Mount St. Joseph. St. Frances will host eight-seeded Calvert Hall College in Monday’s opening round.
St. Joe, the 3rd seed, will host 6th-seed John Carroll, which knocked off fourth-seed Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Wednesday’s regular season finale, 74-59. Archbishop Spalding, which won a MIAA A Conference game against Annapolis Area Christian School on Wednesday, 92-59, will be the 2nd seed and host 7th seeded St. Maria Goretti.
Loyola Blakefield locked down the 5th seed with its 68-57 win over Calvert Hall and will visit Mount Carmel on Monday.
