Archbishop Curley baseball coach Jack Thomas says that the Friars will be much better this season after a down year in 2010.

“Our defense and our offense has improved, and our young pitchers gained a lot of experience last year.”

Thomas will have six senior starters this season. Catcher Jason Gordon, first baseman Dennis Thomas, shortstop Brent Jacobs, and all three outfielders are seniors. In addition, Brandon O’Devin will play left, Luke Stidham will be in center, and Kevin Stark will patrol right

Juniors Ricky Warble and Zach Salkowski will play second and third, respectively.

Thomas will rely on Jacobs, Thomas and Salkowski to key the offense. The pitching staff includes seniors Dale Deickman and Tyler Burton, as well as juniors Zach Merkley and Nick Schafer. Thomas will also call on sophomores JD Caulkins and Mitch Suttons and freshman Zach Ridgley to also pitch.

The Friars open MIAA A Conference play at home on Friday March 25 against Mount St. Joseph.
