Pat Clatchy entered the 2010-11 season with 13 championships and 438 wins during his tenure as head coach at Mount St. Joseph, but his Gaels will have a much different look this winter following the graduation of two-time Baltimore Catholic League Player of the Year Eric Atkins, who is now at the University of Notre Dame.
Clatchy also graduated Ryley Beaumont and Matt Miller and that trio produced close to 1,700 points for the Gaels last season. Still, the veteran coach expects his team to be factor in the BCL and the MIAA A Conference.
“It’s time for some new guys to emerge. Some guys are going to have to step their game up. I really like our depth as a team. I like our offensive balance,” said Clatch. “But, at this point in the season, we are a work in progress.”
Recently, Joe DiBlasi caught up Clatchy to discuss his new team, which went on to open its season with a pair of victories this week.
