Saints overpower St. John’s, 14-4, in season opener

Don’t look now, but the 2018 high school lacrosse season is underway as St. Mary’s-Annapolis hosted St. John’s (DC), Monday in Annapolis, and the Saints pulled away over the final three quarters for an impressive 14-4 win.

Three St. Mary’s players – Taylor Bohana, King Ripley and Garrett Nilsen – registered hat-tricks in the win, but the Saints found themselves locked in a 1-1 tie after one quarter.

St. John’s managed one goal in each quarter of the contest, but Saints registered four tallies each in the second and third quarters and then closed the game with five in the fourth.

Jack Burnett added two scores for St. Mary’s and Ian Krampf had two goals and an assist. In addition, Tristan Michie scored a goal, Alex Wicks had two assists and Nilsen added an assist. In goal, Aleric Fyock made nine saves for the Saints.
