Giles, Cannady and Warrick combine for 57 points
The St. Vincent Pallotti boys basketball team added an early Christmas present to the school’s trophy case, Sunday evening, as the Panthers completed a three game sweep in the Bullis Holiday Invitational with a 77-72 win over Wilson (DC) to take the tournament crown.
The Panthers rolled a power trio as Ronell Giles, Steve Cannady and Amir Warrick combined for 57 points in a battle that was tight throughout. Giles topped the Panthers with 21 points 7 assists, while Cannady had 19 points and 4 assists and Warrick scored 17 points. In addition, Miles Mallory added 8 points and 5 rebounds.
The Panthers were 13-for-15 from the foul line and 17-for-28 (60%) from the field. Pallotti also connected on 10-of-26 3-point attempts. Cannady, a senior, was named the Tournament MVP. He was also named to the Gonzaga DC Classic All-Tournament team last weekend. Giles was also named to the All-Tournament team at Bullis Holiday Classic Team.
The Panthers, who have won seven straight games to improve to 8-3, return to MIAA A Conference action on Wednesday night at Loyola.
