Pointers are routed by Boonsboro in 1A state baseball state semifinals


It was a short evening, but a long night at Frederick’s McCurdy Field, Wednesday, for the Sparrows Point baseball team, as the Pointers were ousted from the 1A state tournament with a 13-0 loss to the Boonsboro in a state semifinal contest.

The Pointers were down just 2-0 entering the top of the fourth, but Boonsboro erupted for seven runs in the inning and added four more in the fifth to bring the game to a close in five innings.

Sparrows Point managed just two hits, singles by Dustin Morris and Brett Johnson, will giving up 13 and committing two errors.

Boonsboro’s Ryan Nolan led the Warrior attack with a 3-for-3 performance which included a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Cole Rinehart was 2-for-2 with a triple, while Ben Burgan, Peyton Mason and TJ Kalagher all had two hits. The Railroaders stroked four doubles and a triple in the contest.
