Admirals and Eagles square off in a little winter baseball; Loyola tops DeMatha

MIAA B Conference baseball runner-up Severn traveled to McDonogh, on Tuesday, to open its season with a non-league game and the two teams were only able to complete six innings before being halted by cold and darkness in a 1-1 tie.

McDonogh took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI double by Robert McHugh, which plated Jack Kinney, and the Admirals tied the contest in the top of the sixth when Jake Winter singled and eventually scored on an Eagle error.

Severn also got base hits from Lashgari and Sweeney and McDonogh finished with five base hits.

Elsewhere, defending MIAA A Conference champion Loyola opened its season with an 8-5 non-league home win over DeMatha.
